The Process

House portraits are hand drawn from photos, so once you have purchased a commission, email me photos from as many different angles as possible, so I can get the full vibe of the house in question. The more photos, the more detail and character I can capture. Photos that show ground to roof are particularly helpful for proportions. I that once you have purchased a house portrait, so I can get to work as soon as possible. if your house is visible on google street view, having the address (although some people find this too invasive) helps me to situate the house in the surroundings.

From these photos, I will then create a rough black and white sketch, which I will then send to you to confirm the layout and general design. At this stage, I can make any changes you need to get the portrait just right.

Personalisation

All styles of house portraits can include

• personalised text (Smith Residence, House name, happy moving in day etc.)

Full Detail House Portraits can include

• key details to be included (plant pots that can’t be missed, favourite flowers, details that make your house unique, family pet in their favourite spot)

• details not to include (any sign of your horrible next-door neighbours/bins/satelite dishes etc. )

• inset mini-scenes to show other angles of the house.

• I will consult with you in greater detail during the commission process.

Dispatch and delivery

As soon as I have your photographs, allow 1-2 weeks for me to weave my magic.

All portraits done on 300gsm watercolour paper and use a mixture of watercolour and gouache paints. Line work is done in fade-proof, archival ink. 

Portraits are sent mounted, but unframed. If you want your portrait framed this can be arranged during the commission process for an additional fee.

All house portraits are sent beautifully wrapped and packaged safely in hard-backed enveloped for safe travel, using Royal Mail First Class Signed For.
